Representative Lori Ehrlich of Marblehead and Senator Jason Lewis of Massachusetts for introducing H.B. 1275 that aims to outlaw the sale and import of ivory and rhinoceros horns in the state.

Reducing the international demand for ivory is a primary means of stopping the slaughter of elephants overseas.

According to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the U.S. is one of the largest global consumers in the illegal wildlife trade. In July 2014, President Obama issued an Executive Order to combat wildlife trafficking. Representative Lori Ehrlich of Marblehead and Senator Jason Lewis of Massachusetts hope to reinforce this initiative with the enactment of H.B. 1275, which would prohibit the import, sale, purchase, barter, or possession with intent to sell any product derived from ivory or rhinoceros horn in the state of Massachusetts.

Take action. Massachusetts residents, contact your legislators and encourage them to pass H.B. 1275 as a means of protecting endangered species in the wild.
