White House Takes Bite Out of Breed-Specific Bans

Could this breed be the next to be banned?

Paws Up!
To the Obama administration for coming out against breed-specific legislation.

The White House has come out against breed-specific legislation with a statement saying, “We don’t support breed-specific legislation—research shows that bans on certain types of dogs are largely ineffective and often a waste of public resources.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control, breed bans don’t work for a number of reasons and recommends, instead, a community-based approach to prevent dog bites. If we’re going to ban anything, we should be banning breed bans not breeds of dogs.

Take Action: Thank the White House for taking a stand on breed bans. Additionally, check with your community to see if there are breed bans in your area. If so, find a legislator who is supportive of overturning the ban.
