Puppy Mill Dogs Need Protection

Without protections in place, puppy mills will continue to breed dogs in squalid conditions.

Without protections in place, puppy mills will continue to breed dogs in squalid conditions.

The Puppy Uniform Protection and Safety Act (PUPS), HR 847 and S 395, would help protect dogs raised in commercial breeding facilities. The act would require licensing of anyone who sells or offers for sale 50 or more puppies from breeding female dogs as companion animals during a one-year period.

Puppy mills are breeding grounds of despair and without oversight they will continue to be.

Write your representative and senators and urge them to support the PUPS Act. Additionally, never purchase a puppy from a pet store as the majority of pet stores sell puppies bred in puppy mill facilities. Support your local animal shelter and animal rescue groups when looking to add a new member to your family.
