Kansas Governor Wants to Put Animal Agriculture on Steroids

In an economic development summit, Kansas governor, Sam Brownback, said he wants to “put [animal agriculture] on steroids and grow it” in order to attract more factory farms to the state, focusing on cows, pigs, and chickens. With (USDA and industry) studies showing a decrease in consumer consumption of meat and state-wide concerns over the conservation of water sources, this new policy seems short-sighted and irresponsible.

Write a polite letter to the governor and let him know that sustainable plant-based agriculture can give his state the economic boost it needs while also improving Kansans’ health and wellbeing.
